Travel has been an important component of my work. I was a Textile professional for almost a decade. Downtime and breaks would be spent with craft clusters – rural and urban, in India and south-east Asia. The importance of swallowing ones craft – making it next to skin, doing that leads to happening, balancing skill with gut were some lessons, apart from age old techniques i received from them. Decision of not going to an art school was an unconscious one. Path has been a lesson and a teacher and has been opening newer routes each passing day.
My current practice was an accidental discovery in the studio, which upon later research i discovered had resemblance to certain old schools of art. Last few years have gone by developing my eco lab, understanding my materials and their behavior and connecting the dots.
