Weight of Time 1
Weight of Time 1
Bentonite Clay, Methyl Cellulose, PVA on Wasli Paper on Wood Panel
16 x 12 inches

This series called Weight of Time, harnesses un-parked emotions that don’t necessarily define themselves but are strong as rocks in their presence. I have tried to catch them unalarmed, then gone back to connecting dots to know their origins. Perhaps a mistake. Origins become redundant as journey progresses. Feelings transform and change form - dark turns pale and pale turns pious. The act juxtaposes pain and exhaustion with cleansing and purification.

This series uses materials such as Bentonite clay, a symbol of cleansing, ‘Wasli’, a form of mulberry paper used in India since the Mughal era to make miniature paintings and pure unbleached cotton muslin.
