Sifr - Works in Pigment and Indian Muslin
Sifr صفر is an ongoing series of work that is an attempt to render zero, (Sifr in Arabic )that symbolizes an ethereal essence underlying all phenomena that is nothing and possibly everything at the same time. Core performance in these works is to whirl matter like a dervish that results in a conical form. These handmade cones - many hundred thousands of them - corporate in themselves chance encounter with the environment with each passing gesture, arising a new unfamiliarity and infinite possibilities, each time. Medium runs as a common reed through all works constantly exploring possibility of its being in relation to its current reality. Various cultural, philosophical, scientific, and personal references make the rendering of these works deeply subjective and readily open ended at the same time.
